My Intro to Topshop

Top: Topshop (old) | Skirt: (sold out on Topshop) Nordstrom  | Shoes: Kelsi Dagger |   Bag: (similar) ASOS|  Necklace: JewelMint

First, I'd like to welcome you to the new and improved Dressing Room Diaries. I was starting to feel the need for a little upgrade as far as my layout was concerned. This is just a little more fresh and neat looking. And in my opinion, a little more fun. And we're all about fun here at Dressing Room Diaries. I may add to this over time, but for now, I am happy with it. I deleted my old social media icons, so for now, if you would like to follow me on social media, you can do so under my "Subscribe" tab towards the top of my page :) I am looking into getting new icons that will look cohesive with the new layout.

Ok, enough of the boring stuff. On to today's outfit...

Until maybe last year, Topshop was completely foreign to me. Then, they built one in Chicago, which is a few hours away from me, but I happened to be going there for a baseball game with my dad last summer. All I could think was "OMG TOPSHOOOOP!" I had seen this top on one of my favorite blogs and had to have it. I loved the fun, feminine silhouette, the flattering cut of the arm holes, the fabric, and high-ish neckline.

So, upon arriving in Chicago, Padre and I had very little time to shop, eat, and find our way to the stadium. I actually didn't realize how far away this new Topshop was from where we got off of one of the trains. We started walking, and kept walking, and then walked some more... until I finally saw it in the distance. By then, Padre was so frustrated with me, I felt bad, so I tried to rush through the store, (because of course, he just had to wait outside.) The multi level store was so big, by the time I tracked the damn shirt down, I didn't want to take the time to try it on, so I just grabbed it off the rack and practically ran to checkout. (See, Padre can get a bit impatient.) I didn't even care if it looked good, because at that point, I figured, after all that work to get there, I had to get something. If I would have walked out of that store empty handed... well, I wouldn't be walking, let's just put it that way (I just want to clarify that my father has never physically abused me, just for the record.)

Well, it turns out, the top looked quite nice and was well worth the million mile trek. And here, I have paired it with another Topshop gem, which I recently acquired (online, no walking required.) I saw this printed tube skirt online and just thought it was the coolest thing. It was one of those things I looked at and assumed wouldn't work for me because of my vertical deficiency (see my post here) but, alas, I ordered it anyway, because I just thought it was so cool and unique. It must have recently sold out on Topshop's site, but they have it in a few sizes on Nordstrom's site, which is the one I linked to. Topshop has this in other prints. I really like the one with the ferris wheel! I love the look of a tight pencil skirt, and the fun print just gives it that extra bit of quirkiness I love so much. P.s. I adore the peplum top with the pencil skirt. I think it just looks so feminine, and dare I say... sexy? I also enjoy wearing the peplum with high waisted jeans and the skirt would also work with a button down shirt (I like mine tied at the waist.)

So, what do you guys think of the new layout? Btw if you are looking for a new layout and don't want to shell out the crazy cash for a custom one, just shoot me an email or leave a comment and I can send you a few of the links I have found in my hunt. Hope you've been having a great week!
